Entry product · Intelligence & Advisory

One market, researched and scored.

The Country Market Brief is where most companies start. A fixed-scope study of one market — a country, or a region that trades as one, such as the EU single market — for your product, built to be put in front of whoever has to approve the decision.

Why this exists

Boards stopped accepting a narrative. A narrative cannot be compared.

Most market decisions are made on a deck that argues for one market. Nobody can tell whether the second-best market was better, because it was never scored the same way.

01

It is comparable

A scored result for one market can sit beside the same result for another. An opinion cannot.

02

It is auditable

Every output arrives with its inputs and sources, so a sceptical director can pull any thread without calling us.

03

It is fixed

One country or region, one product or service line, quoted against a written scope before work begins. No discovery creep.

What is inside

Six outputs, no narrative padding.

01

Fit band for your product

A four-factor readiness result, shown as a band rather than a bare number, with the reasoning behind it.

02

Demand and competitive read

Who buys, through which channels, against which incumbents, and what they currently pay.

03

Regulatory traffic lights

What is clear, what needs a licence and what will stop you — green, amber or red, with the requirement named.

04

Landed-cost waterfall

Your price at the door, built up step by step: tariffs, logistics, certification, margin to the channel.

05

Routing map

How product physically reaches the buyer, and what each route costs in time and money.

06

Funding shortlist

Programs that may fit this move, with what each one asks for and when it closes.

How it runs

About three weeks, in four steps.

Longer where a sector licence or a certification pathway has to be traced to source.

Step 1
Scope and quote

A 30-minute readout, then a written scope naming the country, the product line and the questions the Brief has to answer.

Step 2
Research

Trade, tariff, regulatory and channel data pulled and checked, with the sources recorded as we go.

Step 3
Score and draft

The four-factor read run on your product, outputs rendered as bands, ranks and traffic lights, with the evidence attached.

Step 4
Readout

We walk you and whoever approves the decision through it, and answer the objections in the room rather than by email.

How it reads

Built for the person who has to approve it.

A board member should reach the recommendation in five minutes and find the supporting evidence underneath it if they want it.

Fixed scope

One country or region, one product line

A single market — one country, or a defined region such as the EU single market — quoted against a written scope before work begins.

No discovery creep
Credited forward

It is not a sunk cost

If you go on to a larger engagement, the Brief is credited toward it.

Who it is for

Companies with a shortlist and a decision to defend.

Fits you if

The Brief suits a company that has narrowed to one or two candidate markets and now has to justify the choice to someone else.

  • You have a shortlist but no comparable evidence behind it
  • A board, a lender or a grant committee has to approve the move
  • You need landed cost and regulatory reality before you commit people to it
  • You want one market done properly rather than five done thinly

If you have not shortlisted yet, the IB7 EDGE Workshop does that work with you. If you already have, the Brief is almost always the cheaper route.

After this

What a Brief usually leads to.

Often

A decision, and nothing else

Plenty of Briefs end with a company proceeding on its own, or deciding not to go. Both are successful outcomes.

No obligation
Sometimes

A second Brief

Where two markets are genuinely close — two countries, or a country against a region — the comparison is worth buying.

Before you order

Fair questions about a fixed-scope study.

How is it different from a consultant's market report?
It is scored rather than argued, and the scoring is the same for every market, so two Briefs can be compared. It is also deliberately short — six outputs, each one a decision input, with no chapter of background nobody reads.
Will you tell us not to go?
If that is what the evidence says, yes, in writing, with the reasoning. A Decline verdict is a result, not a failure of the study.
Do you publish how the scoring works?
No. The internals of the model are IB7 intellectual property and are not published. Every result we deliver comes with its inputs and its sources, so you can challenge any line of it on the evidence.
Is this legal or tax advice?
No. The Brief flags regulatory requirements and names them; opinions on how they apply to you come from licensed firms in that market.
Next step

Order a Brief, or ask whether you need one.

Some questions are answered in a thirty-minute readout and do not need a Brief at all. We will tell you which case you are in before you buy.
