Service line 2 · IB7 Soft Landing · Mexico

The market is chosen. Now it has to exist.

IB7 Soft Landing turns a market-entry decision into an operating presence in Mexico: an entity that can contract, invoice, hire, bank and clear customs, with a first commercial pipeline waiting for it.

Where this sits

Downstream of a decision, not a substitute for one.

Soft Landing follows an approved entry plan — ours or yours. If the market is not chosen yet, the IB7 EDGE Workshop or a Country Market Brief comes first. Mexico is the market we cover; we will say so plainly rather than stretch to fit.

Delivered under

An IB7 EDGE Engagement, usually from the Execute phase. Regulated work — incorporation, notarization, tax filings, immigration petitions, trademark prosecution — is carried out by licensed firms in Mexico, who bill you directly.

The promise

You hire one firm, not a network.

A company entering Mexico can find a lawyer, an accountant and a bank contact on its own. What it cannot easily do is make them work in sequence, in two languages, while running its existing business. IB7 holds the mandate, the sequence and the outcome.

What we do

Coordinate and stay answerable

One point of contact, one plan, one status. We brief each specialist, hold the sequence and tell you when something slips.

One answer, one owner
What they do

Carry out the regulated work

Licensed Mexican firms execute formation, tax, immigration and IP filings under their own professional responsibility.

They bill you directly
What we never do

Take a cut of their fee

No commission, no referral fee, no retainer from the partner side. Our incentive is your sequence working, not who you hire.

No partner fees
Who does what

Two licensed practices in Mexico, and IB7 between them.

The split matters, because filing the right thing with the wrong practice costs weeks. Each firm is engaged directly by you, under its own letter and its own professional responsibility.

Partner firms are named to you in the readout and in your engagement letter. They are not published here until the memorandum of understanding and written brand authorization are in place.

The work

Eight workstreams, run in parallel.

Not in series — several gate each other. A bank account needs an entity; payroll needs a tax registration; a trademark filed late is a trademark someone else owns.

01 · Entity

The right vehicle

Incorporation in Mexico — bylaws, powers of attorney and notarization before a notario público — chosen against the entry mode rather than by habit.

02 · Tax

Residency and structure

Tax registration, treaty position, withholding exposure, transfer pricing with the parent, and the filing calendar the company has just acquired.

03 · Compliance

Registrations and licences

Beneficial ownership filing, sector licences, import and export registration, employment and payroll compliance.

04 · Operations

Banking, payroll and address

A peso account, a payroll path for first hires, and a registered address — the three items that most often cost a quarter.

05 · Incentives

Applications in the right order

Federal, state and municipal programmes filed in the sequence that preserves eligibility.

06 · Commercial

A pipeline, not just a company

Buyer and distributor targeting, first meetings in Spanish, and institutional introductions.

07 · Mobility

People who can legally work there

Residence and work authorization for the people the operation needs, plus employer registration where it is required.

08 · IP

The name protected before you use it

Trademark and trade-name protection filed before the brand goes to market, rather than after someone else has filed it.

How it runs

Ninety days, in four windows.

Typical for a straightforward services or distribution entry. Manufacturing, regulated sectors and anything needing a sector licence run longer, and we say so before you sign.

Days 0–30
Entity incorporated

Entry mode confirmed and the entity type chosen against it; bylaws, powers of attorney and notarization by legal counsel; name reservation and the first registrations.

Days 30–60
Able to contract and be paid

Tax registration and beneficial ownership filing, bank account opened, registered address in place, payroll path set up, trademark applications filed.

Days 60–90
First qualified pipeline

Buyer and distributor targeting, first meetings in Spanish, mobility petitions where people are moving, incentive applications in the order that preserves eligibility.

Day 90
Joint review against the entry thesis

What was built measured against what the entry plan assumed — and a written view on what the next ninety days have to fix.

You leave with

A company that can actually trade.

01

A constituted entity

Formed, registered and able to contract in its own name.

02

A tax position

Registration, treaty position and a filing calendar you can hand to a controller.

03

A peso account

Opened, with the signatories and the compliance file behind it.

04

A payroll path

The route to hiring your first people legally and on time.

05

Protected naming

Trademark and trade-name applications on file in Mexico.

06

A first pipeline

Qualified buyers or distributors, met in Spanish, with next steps agreed.

Who it is for

Companies past the decision, not still making it.

Fits you if

Soft Landing is built for a company that has already chosen Mexico and now needs it to exist as an operating business.

  • You have an approved entry plan, or a decision you can defend
  • You need to contract, invoice, hire or import in Mexico within a quarter
  • You would rather coordinate one firm than four professional relationships
  • You want the regulated work done by licensed Mexican firms, not improvised

If the market is not chosen yet, start with a Country Market Brief or the IB7 EDGE Workshop. We will tell you which, in a readout, before you buy anything.

After this

A presence is the beginning of the work, not the end of it.

T+90

Before you commit

Fair questions about a service like this.

Is this available outside Mexico?
Not today. Soft Landing is a Mexico service, because that is where our partner coverage, our Spanish-language delivery and our track record actually are. Other markets are served through the IB7 EDGE Engagement, with licensed firms sourced and coordinated case by case.
Do you guarantee the ninety days?
No, and nobody honestly can — notarial calendars, bank compliance and immigration queues are outside anyone's control. We commit to the sequence, to telling you early when something slips, and to not starting work that another step has to gate.
Who holds the professional liability?
The licensed firm that performs each piece of regulated work, under its own responsibility and its own engagement letter with you. IB7 is answerable for coordination, sequencing and the commercial work we do ourselves.
Can you do the commercial side only?
Yes. Buyer and distributor development can be contracted on its own, for a company that already has an entity in Mexico.
How is it priced?
Against a written scope, after a readout. Pricing depends on entry mode, sector licensing and how much of the commercial workstream you want. We do not quote before we understand which of the eight workstreams you actually need.
Next step

Thirty minutes, and we will tell you what it really takes.

Bring the entry decision you have already made. We will walk the eight workstreams against your model and tell you which ones apply, in what order, and what gates what.
